Life - that most wonderful journey..

The meaning of Life- A message of hope The word  'journey' evokes in me memories of childhood joys - picnics, tours, outings, visits to different places and people - which always had a positive effect on my life and added to the collection of memoirs down the years. "The true joy of life is the trip..." says Robert J. Hastings and i totally agree with him, because if we are conscious of it, we will know that each day we are journeying into the voyage of our lives, being enriched by the experiences, learning from the people we come across, enjoying different scenarios and growing through all that we experience- the good as well as all that is not so good. "The trail is the thing, not the end of the trail. Travel too fast and you miss all you are traveling for..."  are words of Louis L'Amour for whom too, life seems to have been a journey from the past flowing into the present and towards the better future. In a certain way we humans are like a ...

Best places for a date in Goa

Image
Discover the top places to take your spouse in Goa When it comes to choosing an ideal location for taking your girl/guy out, you have two options. One is going to some fancy restaurant (fine dine predominantly, because who gets impressed with some roadside eating right?) and the other one is supposedly finding a peace and quiet place where you can give your partner quality time (tons of examples to be discussed further). Your selection depends on the time of the day and what outcome you really want. For me, honestly speaking, I'd always love a pinch of both. I've been exploring every nook and corner of the state in the past few years; now that I earn a decent income. What intrigued me the most was that my beautiful state of Goa had beauty that even some of the best DSLR couldn't fathom. This magnificent and vibrant beauty is found everywhere, be it up in the hills, or on a beach and even in the markets. The smiling face of the vendors selling their products for li...

The best day of my life in Goa

Image
On One Fun Day in Goa After a stressful exam  week in the college and the weekend It was one bright Friday afternoon with some occasional drizzling that lit our mood whilst texting and made us plan a day out to enjoy the last days of summer. All we needed was someone to take the initiative to put forth the plan on the group and the rest of the girls spontaneously agreed. As we made up our minds with regards to the places to visit, we had to put a lot of thought into it; especially because we had to ensure it was convenient for everybody (the whole strength of my class of 35 girls) to leave the comfort of their homes on a Sunday afternoon (the only day of rest during the whole week). Each person suggested some places as per their liking but eventually came to an agreement to go the majorda beach (the closest sea shore from our University). Majorda beach is in South Goa, between Utorda -flanked in the Northern side- and the Betalbatim beach to its South. This is one of the p...

Best places to shop in Goa

Image
Goa, to me, is my native place. I was born and brought up in the village of Benaulim and ergo, know every detailed aspect of any place. In this blogpost, I will share with you the top places to do your shopping, be it souvenirs, spices, artifacts and anything else you got in your mind right now. The state of Goa is a tourism hotspot with visitors from all parts of the world throng to enjoy the golden beaches of Goa. What I realised after years of travelling was that each and every one of us followed a common trait while we travel - we love to shop! Yeah, that's right! Now please don't argue that men don't shop! Everybody who travels on a vacation usually ends up shopping something or the other they fancy. Men shop for chocolates, garments and other stuff to gift to their loved ones. So, yeah! We all instinctively find something or the other in the alienated country that touches our heart. Goa, is a treasure of such wealth. With rich spices and attractive clothing lin...

I came across this metaphor because I was munching on the kfc fried chicken while writing this down.  If you're tired of the cliche beach visits, then guess what? You're on the same boat as me. Having been raised in Goa, we prefer the fresh waters over the ocean as an adventure because of the abundance of i...

The beauty of London: Through an Indian's perspective

Image
A teenage boy who emigrated to the UK for work shares his insights about the differences between the countries Intro: This post is guaranteed going to make you think twice. Read it now. The eco-friendly metro buses and clean pavements Ever since I moved to the United Kingdom on the 5th of April 2019, life has been completely different for me. Firstly, the homesickness has got the better of me. I miss my mom and dad, my Royal Enfield and moreover, my freedom to take my ride and wander wherever I want. Now that I've been in London, its been more of a hassle to hustle and earn a living. But that's not what life is all about, or is it? My life has been all about jolly good stuff back in the days. I completed my engineering, so you can relate! It's been hell of a ride, but I made it through. Phew! But on a serious note, I do miss my childhood like every other human. At times, I just sit around and reminisce about the beautiful memories at the beach, parks, etc. p...

Which is the best place to stay for tourists: North or South Goa?

Image
Tips to help you chose the best location in Goa Well, I hear a lot of questions from tourists asking which part of Goa should they visit, or locally stay, if they have a tight itinerary. Which part of Goa do you like? Leave it in the comments to share with others. Also, share your best memories of Goa or any suggestion that you would like to give to other visitors. My answers to this question is always a question to them asking what do they seek in Goa? Is it the rave parties? Or the delicious fish thali? Or the tranquility on the beach? If you have answers to these questions beforehand, then I Paragliding in Colva can help you out better. Or you can help yourself better. I have presented below a comparison of both the flanks of Goa so that you may have a better idea of where to stay if you think of coming to Goa for even as little as a day or two maybe. P.s. These keypoints have been made, considering you stay more closer to the cities of Panaji and Margao (which most of...

How Feni is made? The best alcoholic drink of Goa

Image
The process of making Feni from Cashew The Summers are an amazing time to get your hands on the traditional signature alcoholic beverage of Goa -  FENI.  Have a glass of Feni on the beach on a windy day and you will feel the world spinning, literally. It is stupefying and lethal. Hence, it is taken with a slice of green chilli and a wedge of lime dunked in the glass. There are other alternatives to it as well.  Urak  is the unfiltered version of Feni and makes up about half the percentage of alcohol content than Feni. They are almost similar in taste, but only a regular drinker can distinguish among the two. To help you better understand the brewery process, let me start it from the very beginning; it's source - cashews or toddy. Talking about cashew Feni, what they apparently do is initially pluck buckets of cashews from their plantation farms. Then, the seeds are separeted from the fruit. After that, the cashew fruits are thrown into a tub to be crushed,...

Why should you visit Goa right NOW?

Top Reasons to book a trip to Goa For those who have never been to Goa but have widely heard about it, you guys very well know how excited they all sound about it, right? From telling you hours of experiences to having a relaxed holiday, people from all corners of the world come to Goa for one exclusive reason: the sunny weather and the economical alcohol rates. These 2 keypoints drive traffic in Goa more than the amount at Cortalim Junction (one of the frequent traffic jams location in Goa). Coming straight to the point: it is highly unlikely that any youth from India, particularly from South India would not have Goa in their bucket list! This is because of the vivid history of Goa. They were ruled by the Portuguese, unlike India which were ruled by the French! The Portuguese customs and traditions were all not forgotten when the Portuguese army retreated back to its country, giving Goa its liberation. The tradition was still alive among the inhabitants and they cherished it ...
